Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate speed dial (4) to the MINIMUM position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Move propel mode switch (3) to the PAVE position.Note: The machine must be in PAVE mode in order to operate the screed lift system, the hopper system, the apron system, and the auger lift system.

Move left hopper switch (5) and right hopper switch (6) to the LOWER position. Fully lower the hoppers.
Move screed lift switch (7) to the FLOAT position. Lower the screed to the ground.Note: The screed lift switch on the inactive instrument panel must also be in the FLOAT position in order to lower the screed.
After the screed rests on the ground, move screed lift switch (7) to the HOLD position.

Move throttle control switch (8) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.

Move engine start switch (9) to the OFF position after the engine reaches low idle.

Open engine compartment cover (10) .

Remove fan grill (11) on the left fan.

Install strip of reflective tape (12) from Tool (A) on the hub of the left cooling fan.Note: Alternatively, the reflective tape may be installed on a fan blade, close to the hub.
Replace fan grill (11) .
Repeat Step 12 through Step 14 for the right cooling fan.

Open access panel (13) on the right side of the machine.

Unplug connector (14) to the fan pump solenoid.
Move engine start switch (9) to the START position. Release the engine start switch after the engine starts.
Move throttle control switch (8) to the HIGH IDLE position twice. For each switch activation, hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second. The engine speed should increase to 2200 rpm.

Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature on the operator display. Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 43 5.6 °C (110 10 °F).
Use Tool (A) to measure fan speed for each fan. Fan speed should be 2100 50 rpm for both fans.
Move throttle control switch (8) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.
Move engine start switch (9) to the OFF position after the engine reaches low idle.
If both fan speeds are within the specified range, go to Step 27. If either fan speed is outside the specified range, go to Step 25.

Loosen locknut (15). In order to increase pressure, rotate adjustment screw (16) clockwise. In order to decrease pressure, rotate the adjustment screw counterclockwise.Note: When the pressure is increased, fan speed increases. When the pressure is decreased, fan speed decreases.
Go back to Step 18 in order to recheck fan speed.
Reconnect connector (14) to the fan pump solenoid. Close right access panel (13) .
Close engine compartment cover (10) .
