(14) Output shaft The rotor transmission contains two planetary gear sets and three clutches. When first gear is selected with the rotor speed switch, first gear clutch (2) is engaged.Input shaft (9) transfers power from the engine flywheel to input ring gear (13). The input ring gear transfers power to rear planet gears (12), which rotate sun gear (8). The two planetary gear sets share a common sun gear and planet carrier (3). The sun gear rotates front planet gears (11).Since first gear clutch (2) holds front ring gear (6) stationary, front planet gears (11) walk around the front ring gear. This motion causes planet carrier (3) to rotate in the same direction as input shaft (9). The planet carrier is bolted to third gear clutch (6) housing, and the third gear clutch housing is splined to output shaft (14).
