( 1 ) Any of the pumps may be used for this procedure.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Place the camshaft bearing onto plate (2). Position pilot (1) onto the other side of the camshaft bearing. Use bolt (3) to attach the pilot to plate (2). Lubricate the outside of the camshaft bearing with clean engine oil.

Remove plug (8) from the outside of the cylinder block bore for the camshaft bearing.Note: The left side rear camshaft bearing and the right side camshaft bearing that is next to the rear camshaft bearing must be installed more precisely. See Step 6.
Insert the pilot into the cylinder block bore for the camshaft bearing. Orient the joint of the camshaft bearing toward the upper half of the bore. Align one of the oil holes in the camshaft bearing approximately with the hole for the timing bolt.Note: Each side of the bridge has a different outside diameter. The larger side can be inserted into an empty cylinder block bore for a camshaft bearing. The smaller side can be inserted into the bore of a camshaft bearing that is installed.

Screw rod (4) into hydraulic cylinder (5). Attach bridge (6) to the hydraulic cylinder. Attach Tooling (B) to the hydraulic cylinder. Insert bridge (6) into a bore that is adjacent to the camshaft bearing that will be installed.

Groove in camshaft bearingNote: Insufficient hydraulic pressure can cause erratic motion during the installation. Use enough hydraulic pressure for a smooth installation.
Use the hydraulic pump to engage the rod with the plate. Observe the installation of the camshaft bearing through the hole for the plug. Smoothly press the camshaft bearing into the bore until the groove on the outside of the camshaft bearing is centered with the hole. Be careful not to insert the camshaft bearing too far.

The oil hole in the left side rear camshaft bearing and the right side camshaft bearing that is next to the rear camshaft bearing must be aligned exactly for installation of timing bolt (9) .End By: Install the camshaft segments. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft - Install".
