Introduction
Winch speeds may be changed by ordering and installing the appropriate parts. The winch speed can be changed from standard to low speed, or from low to standard speed. This publication will give the part numbers required. It will also show the locations of the parts in the winch. Order the parts for making the conversion by ordering the individual parts shown in the charts in the topic entitled Necessary Parts. Any new gaskets and seals provided should be installed. Do not reuse the originals. Changing the Gears
1. Drain the oil from the winch.2. Remove the winch from the machine.
Location of components.3. Remove and replace the appropriate parts. See the Towing Winches Service Manual for disassembly and assembly instructions.4. Stamp the appropriate data on the serial number plate in the area labeled modifications. Update the standard or low speed indication.5. Reinstall the winch. Add the correct type and quantity of oil to the winch sump. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual.
