Travel distance must be at least 60.96 m (200 ft) long. Travel test ground must be hard and as level as possible.
Draw a 60.96 m (200 ft) straight line on travel test ground as a reference line.
Start the engine.
Place the machine controls at the following settings: Power Mode, Boom Priority Mode, Engine speed dial "10" and AEC switch OFF.
Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° 5°C (131° 9°F).
There should be no implement (grapple or magnet) on the machine.
Position the machine so that one set of wheels is parallel to the reference line. Position the machine for the travel test.
Place the travel speed control switch in HIGH SPEED (RABBIT) position.
Move the machine by operating both travel levers at the same time. Allow the machine to attain momentum before the machine crosses the starting line for the travel speed test.
Measure the travel time that is required to travel the 60.96 m (200 ft). Measure the time that is required for both forward travel and reverse travel. Average three recorded times.
Place the travel speed control switch in the LOW SPEED (TORTOISE) position and repeat Steps 9 and 10.
