ACTION REQUIRED
Before visiting the machine:
1. Download the latest flash files for installation as shown in the Parts List.
Note: Cat Electronic Technician (Cat ET) 2015A and an updated Comm Adapter must be used. Depending on the engine installation type, the engine may require the standard Ethernet service cable (425-6889) male to male Ethernet cable to flash the telematics device.
At the engine:
1. Turn the key switch to the OFF position.
2. Unplug the 12-pin connector from the PL640 radio (417-4723).
5. Unbolt the old radio from the machine.
6. Replace old radio with a new PL641 radio (20R-5677) using the existing hardware.
7. Reconnect the 12-pin connector.
8. Assemble Plug Kit (155-2265) and insert the eight sealing plugs (8T-8737) into back of Plug Kit.
9. Insert assembled Plug Kit into 8-Pin socket of radio.
10. Turn the key switch to the ON position.
11. Using Cat ET, open WinFlash and modify the communication preferences to be "Ethernet Direct Connection". (Utilities - > Preferences -> Modify)
12. Select "Ethernet Direct Connection" and the Correct Ethernet driver used for the PC.
13. Flash the PL641 Cellular Radio and PLE601 Network Manager with the latest available flash files.
14. Perform a communications check using the procedure outlined in Special Instruction REHS8850. If the device is not communicating refer to UENR5823 to troubleshoot a PLE641. Please complete a successful communication check before leaving the machine.
15. Ensure that the subscription status in the "Dealer Services Portal" has not been affected.
