Remove the service brakes. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Service Brake - Remove and Install".

Typical Example
Remove two bolts (1) from the pinion housing. The bolts are located on either side of holes (2).
Install Tooling (B) in the bolt holes.
Remove the remaining bolts (1) from the pinion housing.
Slide the pinion housing away from the differential housing. Forcing bolts may be used in holes (2) in order to separate the pinion housing from the differential housing.

Typical Example
Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device into holes (2), as shown.
Remove the differential pinion from the axle. The weight of the differential pinion is 68 kg (150 lb).
