Information:


Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
1. Drain the transmission oil. Refer to Transmission Oil R1700 Series II, Operation & Maintenance Manual, Form No. SEBU7320 (9EL9466). 2. Remove fire bottle (1) (if equipped) and fire bottle bracket (2). 3. Remove two bolts (2) that fasten the suction line to the transmission housing. Disconnect clamp (4) and drop the suction line out of the way. 4. Disconnect four hoses (5) from the rear of the transmission. Disconnect torque converter vent hose (6) from the rear of the transmission and fold it out of the way. 5. Remove two bolts (7) and remove hose bracket (8). Fold the four hoses out of the way. 6. Remove cross-beam (9). (If the optional remote control system is fitted, remove the remote controls from the crossbeam and hang them out of the way before removing the cross-beam). 7. Remove steering return line (10).8. Disconnect oil cooler line (11) and drop it out of the way. 9. Disconnect steering pressure hose (12) from the steering control valve. Undo three of the clamps holding the hose, starting from clamp (13). Fold the hose out of the way.10. On the machines with hydraulically controlled transmission shift, disconnect three hoses (14) from the rear end of solenoid manifold (15) and fold them out of the way. Disconnect the wires from the solenoids. Unbolt the solenoid manifold assembly. Unbolt control cylinder assemblies (16). Remove the solenoid manifold assembly and control cylinder assemblies together with their connecting hoses. Disconnect the transmission neutralizer line. The transmission neutralizer line is located on the cab side of the transmission.11. On machines with electronically controlled transmission shift, disconnect the multi-pin plug from the front of the transmission hydraulic control valve assembly mounted on the top of the transmission housing. 12. Disconnect center drive shaft (17) at the transmission end. Refer to Drive Shaft (Center). 13. Support the transmission with a hoist.14. Remove four bolts (18) that fasten the right front transmission mount to the main frame. Remove access cover (19) in the footwell of the cab. Remove the four bolts that fasten the left front transmission mount to the main frame. 15. Remove bolts (20) that fasten the transmission mounting bracket to the rear transmission support.16. Install a 3/4 in eye bolt in the threaded hole provided at the center rear of the transmission. Connect a ratchet hoist between the eye bolt and the main hoist to enable the transmission to be tilted rear-end upward.17. Remove the transmission. Installation of transmission is the reverse of removal.18. Check transmission oil level. Refer to the R1700 Series II L.H.D. Operation and Maintenance Manual, Form No. SEBU7320 (9EL9466).
