This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI32694" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Codeand "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI32694" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the 24Oct2016 Service Letter. Changes have been made to Notes in the Service Claim Allowances.

PROBLEM
A problem exists when a PLE640, PLE631, or PLE641 is connected to the J1939 communications link of certain 3512C HD Petroleum Engines. At any time during engine operation the engine speed may drop to low idle (approximately 650-800 RPM) for 2 or more seconds and then return to rated speed. When utilized in fracking operations this can cause a drop in well pressure. This drop can reoccur again once the engine has returned to rated speed.

ACTION REQUIRED
Prior to visiting the Petroleum Engine (Fracking Rig):
1. Download all necessary firmware to update the Product Link PLE601 Network Manager and the PL631 & PL641 Radio devices.
At the Petroleum Engine (Fracking Rig):
2. Update the Product Link PLE601 ECM firmware.
3. If equipped with a PL641 or PL631 also update the radio firmware.
For assets using the PLE640 system, the PL640 Cellular Radio (417-4723) firmware does not require an update. This firmware is preset from the factory.
