Remove the nuts and the bolts that fasten the cutting edge to the jaw. Remove the cutting edge. Remove the shims.
Remove the rust and dirt from the mounting surfaces.
If the cutting edge has a new surface, turn the cutting edge and install the cutting edge. If all of the surfaces of the cutting edge are worn, replace the cutting edge. Install a new cutting edge or a reconditioned cutting edge.
Install new nuts and bolts. Tighten the nuts and bolts.
Start the machine. Close the jaws until the cutting edges overlap each other. Measure the gap between the cutting edges. Turn off the machine.
In order to adjust the gap, use the shims to attain a gap of 0.2 to 0.5 mm (0.007 to 0.020 inch). Apply 4C-5598 High Temperature Anti-Seize to the shims, the cutting edge, and the jaw.
Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to the bolts. Tighten the bolts and the nuts.
