(A) 371-6112 Tube As (B) Gusset (C) 371-6114 Tube As (D) GussetThe Air to Air Aftercooler (ATAAC) tube assemblies have been cracking on certain 789D Off-Highway Trucks.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of the problem, but an interim repair has not yet been defined. If tube assembly (A) or tube assembly (C) crack or split, take a picture of condition prior to repair. Attach the picture to a SIMS report. Replace the failed tube assembly with same part, and retain failed parts. Caterpillar requests that the failed parts be returned to engineering. Any evidence of scuffing of the tube assemblies that is caused by the cowling, gusset (B), or gusset (D) should be relayed.Note: It is important to note if gusset (B) or gusset (D) have been altered from following the instructions in Service Magazine, SEPD1738, "An Improved Cowling Assembly is Now Used on 789D Off-Highway Trucks".
