Inspect the condition of the alternator belts. Use a belt tension gauge in order to check the tension of the alternator belts. The tension of a used alternator belt with more than 30 minutes of operation at rated speed should be 490 N (110 lb). The tension of a new alternator belt with 30 minutes of operation or less at rated speed should be 800 N (180 lb).If the alternator belts require adjustment or replacement, proceed to Step 2.

Loosen mounting bolts (3) and adjusting locknut (2).
Turn adjusting nut (1) until the correct belt tension is reached. Tighten adjusting locknut (2).
Tighten mounting bolts (3).
Recheck the belt tension. If the tension is incorrect, repeat the adjustment procedure. Air Conditioner Belt

Inspect the condition of the air conditioner belt. Use a belt tension gauge in order to check the tension of the air conditioner belt. The tension of a used air conditioner belt with more than 30 minutes of operation at rated speed should be 711 44 N (160 10 lb). The tension of a new air conditioner belt with 30 minutes of operation or less at rated speed should be 1067 44 N (240 10 lb).If the air conditioner belt requires adjustment or replacement, proceed to Step 2.

Loosen compressor bracket mounting bolt (1) and adjusting locknut (2).
Turn adjusting nut (3) until the correct belt tension is reached. Tighten adjusting locknut (2).
Tighten compressor bracket mounting bolt (1).
Recheck the belt tension. If the tension is incorrect, repeat the adjustment procedure.
