Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Drain the engine oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove bolts (2) and use two people to remove engine oil pan (1) The weight of engine oil pan (1) is approximately 24 kg (55 lb).

Remove gasket (6).
Remove bolts (4), bolts (5), suction tube assembly (3), and O-ring seal.

Remove bolts (7), bolt (9), tube assembly (8), and O-ring seal.

Remove bolts (11), plate (10), and gasket (12). Installation Procedure
Install engine oil pan (1) in the reverse order of removal. Note: Clean cylinder block mating surface prior to installation procedure.

Apply a light film of Tooling (A) to the sealing surfaces detailed in Table 2.

For single-piece gaskets with sealing bead, remove eyelets (15) and eyelets (16) from gasket (6). Remove eyelets (15) from gasket (12).

Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 40 5 N m (30 4 lb ft) in the order shown in Illustration 7.
