Information:
1. Carefully lower boom (1) on to wood blocks as shown. Release the cable for the boom and for the load until there is no tension on the cable. Use enough blocks so the lower edge of the boom top plate is 2.5 m (8 ft.) above the ground. 2. Use a lift truck with the forks fastened in the position shown to hold top load sheave (3). The weight of the load sheaves and cable is 181 kg (4000 lb.).3. Remove pin (2) that holds the top load sheave to the boom.4. Carefully lower the load sheaves to the ground and fasten the sheaves together with a chain.
The chain will prevent separation of the load sheaves when the sheaves are lifted through the boom to be put in place on the ground.
5. Fasten a nylon strap and hoist to boom outer sheaves (4). Fasten a nylon strap (horizontal) to the sheave and a lift truck or stationary object to prevent uncontrolled movement of the sheave.6. The weight of the sheave and cable is 681 kg (1500 lb.).7. Remove pin (5) and put the sheave and cable over the boom and put in place on blocks of wood on the ground.
Do not let the cables come into contact with dirt. Dirth will damage the cable.
8. Move the load sheaves and cable through the boom and put load sheaves and cable over the boom and put in place on blocks of wood on the ground. 9. Use two lift trucks to give support to boom (1) and hold it in position so pins (6) can be removed. Remove the wood blocks if they are in the way of boom removal. The weight of the boom is 3314 kg (7300 lb.). 10. Remove pin (6) from each side of the boom.11. Carefully move the boom away from the machine and lower the boom to the ground.Install Boom
1. Use two lift trucks as shown to put boom (1) in position on the machine. 2. Put pins (2) in position on both sides of the boom. Install the retaining bolts. 3. Lower the boom on to wood blocks as shown. Use enough blocks so the lower edge of the boom top plate is 2.5 m (8 ft.) above the ground.4. Carefully lift the load sheaves and cable from the ground and put through the opening in the boom. 5. Use a lift truck to raise top load sheave (4) into position. Install pin (3). 6. Lift the boom outer sheave (5) into position on the draw works frame. Both horizontal and vertical forces are required to put the sheave into position.7. Put pin (6) through the plates, arms, washers and outer sheave.
