C 5P-0960 Grease Cartridge 1 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Install shim (14), pin assembly (12), and bolt (13).

Use Tooling (A) in order to install retaining rings (10) onto pin (11).
Install friction disc (9) and plate (8) on pin (11) and install the pin assembly into the clutch housing. Note: New friction discs (9) must be soaked in Tooling (B) for a minimum of five minutes prior to assembly.

Install remaining friction discs (9), plates (8), and springs (7).

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install necessary shims (4) (not shown), cover (3), and bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) evenly in a crisscross pattern.
Apply Tooling (C) to the bearings and to the clutch housing through the grease fittings that are on the bearing. Apply Tooling (C) to the clutch housing until grease comes out of the reversed grease zerk. Repeat this Step after one hour of operation after the initial fill. Note: For more information on shim adjustment, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Grapple Snubber - Inspect / Adjust".
Remove the suitable blocking between grapple head (5) and grapple snubber (6).

Connect hose assemblies (1). End By:
Disconnect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
