Information:
Engine Running
Turning on a slope will reduce the stability of the machine and could result in tip over accident. Do not turn the machine on a slope 30% or greater or rollover could result, causing serious injury or death.
If the power train and the steering system are operable, and the engine is running, the machine can be towed a SHORT DISTANCE or can be pulled out of the mud.The operator on the towed machine MUST steer in the direction of the tow line.Make certain that all instructions outlined in this topic, Towing Information, are followed.Engine Stopped
Do not push the machine with the engine stopped. The steering control will not function and the parking brake will be engaged.Personnel must NOT be on the machine when it is being towed with the engine stopped.Use a tow bar equipped with bumper blocks. They restrict the angle permitted between the machine and the towing machine fastened to the machine tow pin.If a tow line must be used, a second of the same size or larger must be attached to the opposite end of the machine being towed. The second machine must brake when going downhill.
This machine has a hydrostatic transmission and a spring applied parking brake.Manual Release of Parking Brake
Personal injury or death can result from a brake malfunction. Do not operate the machine if the brake was engaged due to a malfunction of the hydraulic system.Correct any problem before attempting to operate the machine.Block the drums securely so that the machine cannot move.Personal injury or death can result if all necessary repairs and adjustments have not been made before a machine that has been towed to a service area, is put back into operation.
To insure towing without damage to components it is necessary to release the parking brake using one of the following procedures.Option 1
Machine brakes can be released for towing by use of FT1973 Adapter Group (5) and FT1845 Pump Group (1).Before Connection Pump Test:
Possible brake piston seal damage could result without checking relief valve. Opening pressure must be checked and adjusted before connection is made.
1. Plug the main pressure hose where it connects to FT1973 Adapter Group (5).2. Turn bypass valve handle (4) to the closed position.3. Observe relief valve (2) opening pressure while pumping handle (3).4. Adjust relief valve opening to 3030 70 kPa (440 10 psi).Pump Connection
5. Disconnect brake line (7).6. Cap brake valve port where hose has been removed.7. Install 8T2857 Adapters (6). Connect remainder of FT1973 Adapter Group (5) to the pump pressure hose.8. Place the pump on the platform next to the operator.9. Fasten the seat belt and continue with next topic.Brake Release
10. Turn bypass valve handle (4) to the closed position.11. Move pump handle (3) to produce oil flow.12. Brake piston seal must be fully seated. Seating of the seal is evident by a sudden rise in oil pressure. When the seal seats properly, pressure rises to maximum.
Do not allow pressure to drop below 1378 kPa (200 psi) while towing. Partial brake
