2. Close the fuel supply valve if so equipped.3. Disconnect two tube assemblies (1) from the fuel pump. Put caps on the ends of the tube assemblies to prevent fuel loss and to keep dirt out of the fuel system. If fuel pump (3) is difficult to remove, rotate the crankshaft of the engine until the camshaft eccentric, which operates the fuel pump lever, is in a position which will free the rocker lever of the fuel pump.4. Remove four bolts (2), fuel pump (3) and the gasket from the side of the cylinder block. The following steps are for the installation of the fuel pump.5. Check the condition of the gasket used between the fuel pump and cylinder block. If the gasket is damaged, use a new part for replacement. Be sure the camshaft eccentric is in the minimum lift position before the fuel pump is installed.6. Clean the mating surfaces of the fuel pump and cylinder block prior to installation of the fuel pump.7. Put the gasket and fuel pump (3) in position on the side of the cylinder block. Install four bolts (2) that hold it.8. Connect two tube assemblies (1) to the fuel pump.9. Open the fuel supply valve if so equipped.
