(4) Steel ballNote: The setscrew with steel ball only applies to certain boom and stick cylinders with the steel ball under the setscrew. For cylinders that do not include the steel ball under the setscrew, refer to the Specifications and Disassembly and Assembly for your machine.
Tighten the piston nut to the specified torque in the assembly drawing.Note: The lack of the tightening torque causes internal oil leakage, loosened nuts, or damaged screws. Excessive high torque expands the cushion ring at the extending side or deforms the contact face of the piston.Note: In order to tighten the nut properly, clean and degrease the piston, nut and piston rod thread before you tighten the nut.
Put the steel ball in a hole on the nut after you tighten the piston nut. Tighten the set screw to the specified torque in the assembly drawing. Then make the two punches on the nut near the set screw for locking.
