Illustration 1. Fabricated tool bracket that facilitates removal of fuel pump and governor with the engine in the tractor.For all D8L Tractors and for those D9L Tractors with the 1W386 or 4W828 Cover (Fuel Pump Gear), use the FT1981 Bracket. For D9L Tractors with the 9N5576 Cover, use the FT1980 Bracket.
To use the bracket:
1. Remove the access cover to the fuel pump from the fuel pump gear cover.2. Install the applicable bracket in the fuel pump gear cover with the bolt tab down. Bolt bracket to the gear cover.3. Remove and install the fuel pump and governor in the usual manner. The bracket will catch and contain any dropped bolts and prevent the timing advance from falling forward.Illustration 2 shows how to locally make either size bracket.
