Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Remove the filter housing drain plugs. Drain the oil into a suitable container. Clean the drain plugs and install the drain plugs.Note: Removing the drain plugs from the bottom of the filter housings may not drain all of the oil from the filters.
Remove the filter housings and the filter elements. Discard the used filter elements.
Wash the filter housings in clean nonflammable solvent.
Inspect the seals in the filter bases. If the seals are damaged, replace seals with new seals.
Install the new filter elements in the housings. Install the housings.
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Check for leaks and make any necessary repairs.
Observe the oil level when the oil is warm and the transmission is in the NEUTRAL position. Make sure that the parking brake is engaged.

Maintain the oil level to the FULL COLD mark in the sight gauge.
If necessary, add oil.
