1-Input gear. 2-Bearing cage. 3-Bolts. 4-Shims. 5-Transfer drive case. 6-Transmission output gear. 7-Transmission input gear. 8-Transmission output shaft. 9-Idler gears. 10-Retainer. 11-Idler gears and parking brake shaft. 12-Brake hub. 13-Retainer. 14-Output shaft. 15-Yoke. 16-Output shaft bearing assembly. Adjust bearings for all gears and shafts in the transfer drive case in the same manner except tighten bolts securing bearing cage for idler gears and parking brake shaft (11) to a final torque of 100 10 lb. ft. (13,8 1,4 mkg).8. Install brake hub (12) on shaft (11) and install retainer without shims.9. Tighten bolts without lockwashers, securing retainer (10) to shaft (11) to a torque of 150 20 lb. ft. (20,7 2,8 mkg).10. Remove retainer and measure distance of step from mounting face of hub (12) for retainer (10) and end of shaft (11).11. Prepare shims having a total thickness of .002-.004 in. (0,50-0,10 mm) less than measured step.12. Install shims and retainer. Tighten bolts to a torque of 200 20 lb. ft. (27,7 2,8 mkg).13. Tighten bolts without lockwashers, securing retainer (13) to yoke (15) to a torque of 60 10 lb. ft. (8,3 1,4 mkg).14. Remove retainer and measure distance of step from mounting face of yoke (15) for retainer (13) and end of shaft (14).15. Prepare shims having a total thickness of .003 .001 in. (0,08 0,03 mm) less than measured step.16. Install shims and retainer. Tighten bolts to a torque of 100 10 lb. ft. (13,8 1,4 mkg).Front Drive Shaft
FRONT DRIVE SHAFT SUPPORT BEARING COMPONENTS
1-Yoke. 2-Shims. 3-Shims. 4-Cage. 5- Bolts. 6-Drive shaft. 7-Retainer. 8-Seal retainer. 9-Bolts. 10-Seal. 11-Bearing.1. Install bearing (11) into cage (4) and onto shaft (6).2. Install seal retainer (8) without seal (10) and tighten evenly into position using three equally spaced bolts (9) without lockwashers.3. Tighten the three bolts (9) to a torque of 75 10 lb. ft. (10,4 1,4 mkg), loosen and retighten finger tight.4. Measure gap between retainer (8) and cage (4) and install shims (3) equal to the measured gap plus .002 in. (0,05 mm). If gap measures .003 in. (0,08 mm) use .002 in. (0,05 mm) shims.5. Install all bolts (9) with lockwashers and tighten to a torque of 75 10 lb. ft. (10,4 1,4 mkg).6. Install yoke (1) retainer (7) without shims (2) and tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 60 10 lb. ft. (8,3 1,4 mkg).7. Remove bolts (5) and retainer (7). Measure the distance from shaft (6) end to the mounting face of yoke (1) for retainer (7).8. Install shims (2) equal to the measured distance less .002-.004 in. (0,05-0,10 mm).9. Install retainer (7) and bolts (5). Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 100 10 lb. ft. (13,8 1,4 mkg).Pinion Bearing Adjustment
