Primary Steering Valve Spool Displacement Line Sensor circuit connections
The CID 2203 diagnostic code is associated with the Primary Steering Valve Spool Displacement Line (steer valve spool position sensor). The Implement ECM will use the voltage input signal from the sensor to determine whether the steering control valve spool is operating as expected. The FMI 04 indicates that the ECM has detected that the voltage of the input signal is below the low voltage threshold. The Implement ECM monitors the signal circuit from the steer valve spool position sensor for diagnostics at all machine speeds. At travel speeds below 7 km/h (4.3 mph), the ECM will use the valve spool position status to determine if the valve spool is responding as expected to the current commands that are being sent to the steer solenoid valves.During steering operation, a probe on the end of the valve spool moves in and out of the position sensor. The sensor sends a voltage signal to the ECM on the signal circuit. As the position of the spool changes, the voltage of the signal changes. When the sensor is powered, the ECM expects the voltage of the signal circuit to be in the range of 0.1 VDC to 4.9 VDC. When the left joystick is stationary in any position, the ECM expects the sensor signal voltage to be in the neutral range of 2.5 0.3 VDC.When the joystick is moved to the right on the steering axis, the voltage of the signal circuit will decrease toward the 0.1 VDC end of the range. When the joystick is moved to the left on the steering axis, the voltage of the signal circuit will increase toward the 4.9 VDC end of the range. When the joystick is stationary in any position on the steering axis, the voltage of the signal should return to the neutral range of 2.5 0.3 VDC.The possible conditions that could cause the Implement ECM to activate the CID 2203 FMI 04 diagnostic code are listed:
The sensor signal circuit is shorted to a ground source.
The steer valve spool position sensor is faulty.
The ECM has failed or the operating software is not the latest version. ECM failure is the least likely cause. Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor connections or contamination in a connector can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Ensure that the circuit connections are clean, dry, and in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Note: The following test procedure may cause other diagnostic codes to be activated. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the problem has been corrected. Ensure that the CID 2203 FMI 04 diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
Disconnect the harness connector from the steer valve position sensor connector.
Turn the disconnect switch and
