Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Personnel can be injured during the steering check.To help prevent possible personal injury, keep all personnel away from the machine or in clear view of the operator when the machine is in operation during steering checks.
Before performing operational checks, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" and Testing and Adjusting, "Visual Inspection" .Steering Time
Note: Measuring the steering time will determine if there is a reason to check the priority valve or the metering pump.
Move the machine to a smooth, horizontal location. Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel.

(1) Direction control switch.
Place the direction control switch (1) in the NEUTRAL position.

(2) Parking brake control.
Engage the parking brake (2) .
Raise the attachment slightly off the ground.
Run the engine at high idle.

(3) Stop pad.
Turn the machine to the left until the stop (3) contacts the stop pad (4) .
Turn the machine fully to the right. Record the time for a full turn from one stop to the other stop.Note: Turn the steering wheel at a speed of 100 rpm to 110 rpm. This is approximately 2 turns per second.
Turn the machine fully to the left. Record the time for a full turn from one stop to the other stop. The time for a full turn from one stop to the other stop should be 2.7 0.2 seconds. If the time is higher, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Steering System Troubleshooting" .Steering Turns

Turn the machine fully to the right. Record the number of turns by the steering wheel from one stop to the other stop.Note: Turn the steering wheel at a speed of 100 rpm to 110 rpm.
Turn the machine fully to the left. Record the number of turns by the steering wheel from one stop to the other stop. The number of turns by the steering wheel from one stop to the other stop is 4.5 turns to 5.0 turns. If the number of turns is higher, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Steering System Troubleshooting" .
