Engine News SEBD9990, 15 May 2015, "Improved Fastener Groups Are Used on the Vibration Damper of Certain C175 Commercial Engines". Disregard the previous article, refer to the article that follows.Description of Change: The damper fastener groups have been improved to eliminate usage of the spacer plate and utilize individual hardened washers. The individual washers will maintain usage of the existing bolts.The assembly torque has been increased to 800 N m (590 lb ft).Adaptable To: The improved 364-3908 Damper Fastener Gp utilizes twelve 478-1756 Hard Washers in place of the 360-1190 Spacer Plate. The new 478-1756 Hard Washer is designed to minimize contact with the fillet radius of the damper group bore. This improved damper fastener group is adaptable back to first production on the serial numbers listed above, except for applications that continue to use the 317-1640 Damper Gp .Refer to "364-3908 Damper Fastener Gp Installation Procedure" to install the improved 364-3908 Damper Fastener Gp .The use of the 364-3908 Damper Fastener Gp is effective on the serial numbers listed in Table 1.

S/N:WYB01791-UP    The improved 364-3909 Damper Fastener Gp utilizes sixteen 5P-6604 Hard Washers in place of the 360-1190 Spacer Plate. The improved damper fastener group is adaptable back to first production on the serial numbers listed above. Refer to "364-3909 Damper Fastener Gp Installation Procedure" to install the improved 364-3909 Damper Fastener Gp .The use of the 364-3909 Damper Fastener Gp is effective on the serial numbers listed in Table 2.

Note: When installing the improved fastener group, replace the four bolts in the counterbore locations of the 360-1190 Spacer Plate .
Remove all the 240-0312 Bolts .
Remove the 360-1190 Spacer Plate and discard the spacer.
Lubricate the threads and under the bolt head with 334-0519 Grease .
Install a 478-1756 Hard Washer on each of the 240-0312 Bolts .
Install the 240-0312 Bolts with the 478-1756 Hard Washers installed.

Pre-torque the damper bolts in the order shown in Illustration 1.Torque for the 240-0312 Bolts ... 350 50 N m (258 37 lb ft)
Torque the damper bolts in the order shown in Illustration 1.Torque for the 240-0312 Bolts ... 800 100 N m (590 74 lb ft)
Repeat the torque procedure only for bolts 1, 2, 3, and 4.Torque for retightening bolts 1, 2, 3, and 4 ... 800 100 N m (590 74 lb ft)Note: The 317-1640 Damper Gp will continue to use the 360-1190 Spacer Plate .364-3909 Damper Fastener Gp Installation Procedure

Remove all the 274-7709 Bolts .
Remove the 360-1190 Spacer Plate and discard the spacer.
Lubricate the threads and under the bolt head with 334-0519 Grease
