Hydraulic System for Slope Control
Illustration 3 g01474441
Slope hydraulic schematic (hold) (1) Left slope cylinder (2) Right slope cylinder (3) Shutoff valve (4) Shutoff valve (5) Left slope control valve (6) Right slope control valve (7) Line from auxiliary pump (8) Return manifold (9) Line to tankThe slope hydraulic system has one cylinder on each extender in order to adjust the slope of the extender. The cylinders are controlled by a valve assembly with two solenoids. The solenoids are controlled by the slope control circuits and enable hydraulic flow in order to increase or decrease the slope.Shutoff valves allow the operator to lock the positions of the cylinders and therefore disable the slope controls. The shutoff valves can also reduce the flow rate to the cylinders to slow down cylinder movement. Rapid movement of the slope cylinder can effect the height of the extender. When a slope control switch is in the center position, both solenoids on the slope control valve are de-energized and the valve remains in the hold position. In this position, both sides of the cylinder are blocked by the pilot opened check valves in the valve assembly so that the cylinder is locked in position. Fluid flow from the auxiliary pump is blocked by the control valve, and the return line of the control valve is connected to the hydraulic tank.

Slope hydraulic schematic (slope increase and slope decrease) (1) Left slope cylinder (2) Right slope cylinder (3) Shutoff valve (4) Shutoff valve (5) Left slope control valve (6) Right slope control valve (7) Line from auxiliary pump (8) Return manifold (9) Line to tankWhen a slope control switch is in the increase position, current is directed to the appropriate solenoid. The solenoid opens the control valve passage. Fluid from the auxiliary pump is allowed to flow to the head end of the cylinder. The left cylinder is shown. Pressure in the pilot line opens the check valve in the return side. The cylinder extends until the cylinder is fully extended or the switch is released. The slope of the extender increases as the cylinder extends. When a slope control switch is in the decrease position, current is directed to the appropriate solenoid. The solenoid opens the control valve passage. Fluid from the auxiliary pump is allowed to flow to the rod end of the cylinder. The right cylinder is shown. Pressure in the pilot line opens the check valve in the return side. The cylinder retracts until the cylinder is fully retracted or the switch is released. The slope of the extender decreases as the cylinder retracts.Berm Hydraulic System

Berm hold hydraulic schematic (1) Left berm cylinder (2) Right berm cylinder (3) Left berm control valve (4) Right berm control valve (5) Shutoff valve (6) Line from auxiliary pump (7) Line to tankThe berm hydraulic system has one cylinder on each extender in order to raise and lower the berm mechanism. The cylinders are controlled by a valve assembly with two solenoids. The solenoids are controlled by
