Diagnostic Trouble Code for Battery Problem

E441-1     Idle Elevated to Increase Battery Voltage     The engine idle has been elevated in order to increase battery voltage.
This diagnostic code does not necessarily indicate a fault. This feature is used to increase an excessively low battery voltage while the engine is at idle.    Note: If the diagnostic code in Table 1 is frequently logged and/or active, then perform the following procedure.Probable Causes

Charging Circuit
If a fault in the battery charging circuit is suspected, refer to Troubleshooting, "Alternator Problem".Faulty Battery
Check that the batteries are able to maintain a charge. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing, and Adjusting, "Battery - Test".
If a battery does not maintain a charge, replace the battery. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Battery - Replace".Auxiliary Device
Check if an auxiliary device has drained the batteries by being left in the ON position.
Charge the batteries.
Verify that the batteries are able to maintain a charge when all auxiliary devices are switched off.
