Removal Procedure
Start By:
Separate the track assemblies. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Separate" in this manual.
Use the hydraulic track adjuster to extend the front idler and the recoil spring assembly in the undercarriage frame assembly as far as possible.

Use a pry bar in order to move the front idler and recoil spring assembly (1) partially out of the undercarriage frame assembly, as shown.
Fasten lifting slings and a hoist to the front idler and recoil spring assembly (1), as shown. Slide the front idler and the recoil spring assembly out of the undercarriage frame assembly as a unit. The weight of the unit is 318 kg (700 lb).

Rotate the front idler and the recoil spring assembly around 180 degrees. Leave the hoist attached. Install the front idler partially into the undercarriage frame assembly. Leave four bolts (3) exposed. Note: Loosen, but do not remove four bolts (3) at this time.
Remove the front idler and the recoil spring assembly from the undercarriage frame assembly.
Support the front idler and the recoil spring assembly with a hoist. Remove four bolts (3) that hold the unit together. Separate recoil spring assembly (4) from front idler (2). The weight of the front idler is 177 kg (390 lb). The weight of the recoil spring assembly is 141 kg (310 lb).
