Pump Actuator (A) Enlarged boreOrifices are now available for installation in the pump actuator. The orifices will increase the delivery pressure. The orifices will minimize the drop in engine speed. Use the information that follows for the installation of a new orifice in the pump actuator.

Measure the engine rpm. The drop in the engine speed will vary from 300 rpm to 400 rpm during a stall condition for one pump flow.
Measure the main pump pressure at the gauge port. The main pump pressure for one pump at no load should be 4 MPa (580 psi). The main pump pressure for one pump flow at relief should be 34.3 MPa (4975 psi).

Measure the average pump delivery pressure. The average delivery pressure at one pump should be greater than 18 MPa (2610 psi). Refer to Illustration 2.

(C) Plug (D) OrificeThe pump should have the original 160-4409 Orifice or the 247-8920 Orifice. The installation of a new orifice will vary because the amount of the wear in the bore will vary. Remove the plug from the pump. Install increasingly larger orifices until the correct average pump delivery pressure is achieved. Refer to Table 1 for the list of the orifices. Refer to Illustration 3 for the location of the orifices.
