1. Move the ladder to the lowered latched position. Remove two bolts (2) and the washers that hold sheet (1) to the cover. Remove sheet (1) from the cover. Install a block of wood or like object in the cover to keep the counter weight block from dropping when the cable assembly is disconnected from the ladder. 2. Move ladder (3) to the raised locked position. Disconnect cable assembly (4) from ladder (3). 3. Position a lifting sling around ladder (3), as shown. Secure the lifting sling to a hoist. 4. Remove three bolts (5) and the washers that hold lower ball bearing (6) to ladder (3). Remove lower ball bearing (6) from ladder (3). Repeat procedure for the remaining lower ball bearing. 5. Lower ladder (3) to gain access to upper ball bearing (7). Remove three bolts (8) and the washers that hold upper ball bearing (7) to ladder (3). Remove upper ball bearing (7) from ladder (3). Repeat procedure for the remaining upper ball bearing. The following steps are for the installation of the ladder bearings. Check all components for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Apply 1U-6396 O-ring Compound to all O-ring seals prior to installation, if applicable. 6. Put upper ball bearing (7) in position to ladder (3). Install three bolts (5) and the washers that hold upper ball bearing (7) to ladder (3). Repeat procedure for the remaining upper ball bearing. 7. Put lower ball bearing (6) in position to ladder (3). Install three bolts (5) and the washers that hold lower ball bearing (6) to ladder (3). Repeat procedure for the remaining lower ball bearing. 8. Move ladder (3) to the raised locked position. Connect cable assembly (4) to ladder (3). Remove the lifting sling from ladder (3). 9. Move the ladder to the lowered latch position. Remove the block of wood, or like object, from the cover. Put sheet (1) in position to the cover. Install two bolts (2) and the washers that hold sheet (1) to the cover.
