Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the transmission oil cooler, if necessary.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Loosen hose clamp (1) and remove air cleaner (2).

Loosen hose clamps (3). Remove hose (4).
Remove bolts (5). Remove elbow (6) and the O-ring seal.
Loosen hose clamps (7). Remove hose (8).
Remove bolts (10), pump cover (9), and O-ring seal (11).
Remove bolts (12), bonnet (13), and the O-ring seal.

Loosen hose clamps (14). Remove hose (15).
Loosen hose clamps (18). Remove hose (19). Loosen clamp assembly (17). Remove elbow assembly (16).Installation Procedure

Illustration 4 g01597315Note: Replace the zinc rod assembly in elbow assembly (16), if necessary.
Place elbow assembly (16) in position. Ensure that clamp assembly (17) is in the proper orientation. Tighten clamp assembly (17) to a torque of 20 5 N m (15 4 lb ft). Install hose (19). Ensure that hose clamps (18) are in the proper orientation. Tighten hose clamps (18).
Install hose (15). Ensure that hose clamps (14) are in the proper orientation. Tighten hose clamps (14).

Install the O-ring seal on bonnet (13). Apply Tooling (A) to the O-ring seal and install bonnet (13). Install bolts (12).
Install O-ring seal (11), pump cover (9), and bolts (10).
Install hose (8). Tighten hose clamps (7).
Install the O-ring seal and elbow (6). Install bolts (5).
Install hose (4). Tighten hose clamps (3).

Install air cleaner (2) and tighten hose clamp (1).
Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".End By:
