Dash panel (7) Coolant temperature gauge (8) Gauge moduleWith the key start switch in the ON position, 24 volt power is supplied from the batteries via circuit breaker #1 to the Caterpillar Monitoring System ECM. Power is supplied from batteries via circuit breaker #11 to the Engine ECM. The Engine ECM supplies 5 volt power to the engine coolant temperature sensor and to the coolant level sensor.Engine coolant temperature sensor (4) sends a signal to Engine ECM (1). The Engine ECM sends a signal via the CAT Data Link to Caterpillar Monitoring System ECM (2). The Caterpillar Monitoring System ECM sends a signal to gauge module (8). The gauge module indicates the engine coolant temperature on coolant temperature gauge (7) .Coolant level sensor (6) and coolant flow switch (5) send a signal to the Engine ECM. The Engine ECM monitors the state of the coolant. The Engine ECM sends the coolant level condition to the Caterpillar Monitoring System ECM. Engine coolant level indicator (3) will illuminate if the coolant level is not within specification. If the coolant level sensor or the coolant flow switch is out of range for the engine requirements, the Engine ECM will begin timing the condition. The Engine ECM monitors the condition of the sensor and the switch and will derate the engine or shut the engine down depending on the severity of the conditions.
