Steering
The brakes are used to slow the machine and the brakes are used to stop the machine. The brakes do not assist in the steering of the machine.Brake Operation

(1) Proportional brake solenoid (2) Parking brake solenoid (3) Secondary brake solenoid (A) Flow from the pump. (B) Flow to the left brake port (C) Flow to the right brake port (D) Return to tankThe brake control valve is located on top of the electric drive propulsion module. The brake control valve is controlled by the machine ECM.The brake control valve contains parking brake solenoid (2) and secondary brake solenoid (3) . These solenoids are either full ON or full OFF. Parking brake solenoid (2) and secondary brake solenoid (3) are controlled by the parking brake switch or the travel control pedal switch through the machine ECM. The travel control pedal switch is activated when the travel control pedal is fully depressed. Each solenoid is attached to a pilot valve. The brake pressure in each brake is controlled by reducing spools. In addition, each brake control valve includes a shutoff valve. If the pressure from the pilot valve drops suddenly, the shutoff valve gradually drains the brake pressure through the reducing spools. This shutoff valve prevents sudden brake engagement due to an electrical failure. If, the operator performs a quick stop the brakes may be applied rapidly. Both the parking brake solenoid and the secondary brake solenoid valves will open allowing the brake pressure to drop quickly.Braking
The speed of the tractor is controlled by the thumb wheel that is on the direction and speed control. When the travel control pedal is depressed, the sensor that is connected to the pedal sends a signal to the machine ECM. The signal causes the ECM to reduce the speed of the electric motors in the electric drive propulsion module. If the travel control pedal is slightly depressed, then the signal from the ECM slows the electric motors slightly. If the pedal is depressed further, the ECM will instruct the electric motors to slow down more.Dynamic Braking
Proportional brake solenoid (1) is controlled by the machine ECM. This solenoid sets the pressure in the proportional pilot valve. The machine ECM determines the current to the proportional brake solenoid, based on the following inputs:
The position of the thumb wheel on the direction and speed control
The position of the travel control pedal
The position of the slope sensor
The travel speed of the machine
The engine speedDynamic braking may occur under the following conditions:
Directional shifts
Slope workThe machine ECM adjusts the current to the proportional brake solenoid in order to maintain the track speed that has been requested by the operator. During a directional shift, the brakes may apply slightly in order to provide a smooth shift. The machine ECM constantly monitors the inputs. When the tractor is on a slope, the machine ECM determines the angle of the slope and the rate of change of the slope. In order to maintain the requested track speed, the machine ECM may dynamically apply
