Items in the 8T5200 Signal Generator Group available from the Parts Department.The new signal generator/counter simulates speed in place of the magnetic speed pickup on all electronic transmission control units. An eight volt (peak to peak) square wave "OUT PUT" is provided for this function. The contents of the group, along with the Special Instruction on how to use it, are shown in the illustration. The signal generator includes two nine volt batteries.
The signal generator/counter can be used in some applications to calibrate other diagnostic testing tools in a number of applications where the 5P9698 Calibrator is currently used. A three volt (peak to peak) square wave "CAL OUT" is provided for this. The frequency (Hz) range is approximately three to 7000 Hz (cycles per second), infinitely variable by turning the Hz adjustment knob, and is displayed by a liquid crystal display (LCD).
The signal generator/counter can be used as a frequency (Hz) counter for either a pulsating DC signal, or AC signal within the following parameters: between 10 and 19 999 Hz and 0.1 to 50 volts peak. If it is desired to count a frequency from 1 to 19 999 Hz, then the signal level must be 1 to 50 volts peak.
The 8T5201 Signal Generator/Counter with the 9W6370 Electronic Speed Switch Adapter Cable will provide a static check of the overspeed switch on engines. See reference article.
