Which Generate This Code:The ECM detects all of the following conditions:
An open circuit condition is present between the ECM and the air inlet heater relay for at least two seconds.
The ECM has been powered for at least one second.
The engine is not being cranked.
Battery voltage is greater than 9 VDC for at least two seconds prior to the open circuit.System Response:The ECM will log the diagnostic code. The diagnostic code may be viewed on a display module or on Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET). The air inlet heater is disabled.
Hard startingThe machine is not equipped with the hardware that is required for this feature. The "Air Inlet Heater Installation Status" parameter has been inadvertently changed to "Enabled".Test Step 1. Change the "Air Inlet Heater Installation Status" Parameter to "Disabled"
Connect Cat ET to the service tool connector.
Change the parameter for "Air Inlet Heater Installation Status" to "Disabled".
Clear any logged diagnostic codes that are related to the air inlet heater.
Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.Results:
