Start By:a. remove drum assemblyb. remove inner drum scraper 1. Remove bolt (4) and pin (2) from offset cylinder (3). Secure offset cylinder to the side.2. Remove two bolts (5), and remove clamp (1) from both sides of the yolk. 3. Position wooden blocks under the rear frame section of the machine as shown. Refer to Step 11 in the topic "Remove & Install Drum Assembly", and remove Tooling (B) from under the yoke. 4. Position appropriate stands under front of yoke (6) as shown. 5. Remove two bolts (8) and remove indicator assembly (7). 6. Remove nut and bolt (9) and remove bolt (10) from housing assembly (11). 7. Remove two pins (12) and (13). 8. Attach a hoist and lifting chains to yoke (6) as shown.9. Remove yoke (6) from the machine. The weight of the yoke is 835 kg (1840 lb). 10. Attach a hoist and a lifting strap to plate (15).11. Remove eight bolts (14), and remove plate (15) and shims. The shims are located between the plate and yoke. Put identification marks on the shims for installation purposes. The weight of the plate is 124 kg (273 lb). 12. Attach a hoist and a lifting strap to housing assembly (16).13. Remove housing assembly (16) from the yoke (6). The weight of the housing assembly is 145 kg (320 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the yoke.14. Use lifting straps and a hoist to position housing assembly (16) onto the yoke (6).15. Use lifting straps and a hoist to position plate (15) onto the yoke. Install the original amount of shims and eight bolts (14).16. Attach a hoist and lifting chains to yoke (6).17. Position yoke (6) in the steering pivot.18. Install pins (12) and (13).19. Install nut and bolt (9) and bolt (10) in housing assembly (11).20. Install indicator assembly (7) and two bolts (8) on housing assembly.21. Refer to Step 11 in the topic "Remove & Install Drum Assembly" and position Tooling (B) under the yoke. Remove the wooden blocks from under the machine and remove the hoist and lifting straps.22. Position the hose assemblies, and install clamp (1) and two nuts (5) on both sides of the yoke.23. Install the inner drum scraper. See the topic, "Remove & Install Drum Scrapers", in this module.24. Install the drum assembly. See the topic, "Remove & Install Drum Assembly", in this module. After installation of the drum assembly, the clearance between the vertical bushings and the vertical pins must be checked. Use the following procedure:A. Check the vertical steer pivot clearance as follows:
Steering Pivot1. Put the machine on a hard level surface. Stop the engine, and apply the secondary brake.2. Attach the base of 8T-5098 Dial Indicator to the top of the steer pivot housing as shown. Set the dial indicator actuator on the top of the rear frame.3. Set the dial indicator to zero.4. Place a hydraulic jack under the rear frame at the pivot assembly.5. Raise the hydraulic jack
