Fuel Pump
Illustration 1 g00704032
The fuel pump is located on the left side of the machine on top of the fuel tank. (1) Fuel pumpFuel pump (1) is controlled by a switch that is located in the right screed control box.
Close the fuel control valves after you preheat the screed. Failure to close the valves may allow diesel fuel to accumulate in the screed. Diesel fuel and vapors may cause fire or explosion. This could result in personal injury or death.
Illustration 2 g00704084
Fuel control valvesThere are two fuel control valves that are located on each side of the screed. There is one fuel control valve for each burner assembly. If the fuel control valve is closed, the fuel is blocked from the burner assemblies. If the fuel control valve is open, the fuel flows to the four burner assemblies.Screed Burner Control
Illustration 3 g00783283
Right screed control box There is one switch that turns on the fuel pump. The switch is a three-position switch. The spray down position (2) sends diesel fuel to the quick disconnect plug that is located at the rear of the machine. A hose attaches to the quick disconnect plug in order to clean the machine at the end of a job. The burn position (3) sends diesel fuel to the fuel control valves in order to operate the screed burners. Burner Assemblies
Illustration 4 g00783288
(3) Burner assemblyThe screed is equipped with four burner assemblies. The burner assemblies burn the fuel. The burner assemblies direct heat from the combustion to the screed plates.

(7) Burner assembly (8) Screed frame (9) Insulation (10) Lower burner chamberBurner assemblies (7) are mounted on top of the screed frame (8) on the main screed and the extenders. Insulation (9) and the lower burner chamber (10) are mounted below the screed frame (8) .Lower burner chamber (10) directs the flame from the burner assembly (7) toward the screed plates. This produces even distribution of the heat.Insulation (9) reduces the transfer of heat to screed frame (8). Insulation improves the efficiency of heating the plate.

(11) Blower wheel (12) Blower motor (13) Blower housing (14) Fuel line connector assembly (15) Check valve (16) Adapter (17) Flame ring (18) Nozzle (19) Glow plug (20 ) Upper chamber assemblyThe components for the burner assemblies are listed above. Blower wheel (11), blower motor (12) and blower housing (13) force air through the assembly. Fuel line connector (14), check valve (15), adapter (16), flame ring (17) and nozzle (18) supply the diesel fuel. Glow plug (19) and upper chamber assembly (20) ignite the burner flame and direct the burner flame.Fuel flows from the fuel control valves to the fuel line connector (14). From the fuel line connector, the fuel flows through check valve (15) and adapter (16). The fuel is then sprayed from the nozzle (18). Vanes on the flame ring (17) create turbulence in order to help distribute the fuel. This promotes complete combustion. Glow plug (19) provides the source of heat for initial ignition of the fuel.Blower housing (13), blower
