There are several specific messages on this machine. The location of the messages and the description of the messages are reviewed in this section. Please become familiarized with all messages.Make sure that all of the messages are legible. Clean the messages or replace the messages if you cannot read the words. Replace the illustrations if the illustrations are not legible. When you clean the messages, use a cloth, water and soap. Do not use solvent, gasoline, or other harsh chemicals to clean the messages. Solvents, gasoline, or harsh chemicals could loosen the adhesive that secures the messages. Loose adhesive will allow the messages to fall.Replace any message that is damaged, or missing. If a message is attached to a part that is replaced, install a message on the replacement part. Any Caterpillar dealer can provide new messages.Air Cleaner (1)This message is located on the cover of the air cleaner.

To avoid engine damage, use only Caterpillar radial seal air filters as replacement filters. Refer to the following topics for correct replacement instructions:

This machine is equipped with a vandalism protection cover for the instrument panel. This cover will prevent tampering with the machine controls when the machine is unattended. The cover is located in a slot above the instrument panel.Electrical Disconnect (3)This message is located on the face of the battery disconnect switch inside the battery compartment access door on the left side of the machine.

OFF - Inserting the battery disconnect switch key and removing the key must only be done from the OFF position. In the OFF position, there is no power to the electrical circuits in the machine.
ON - Turn the battery disconnect switch to this position in order to provide electrical power to the electrical circuits in the machine.
Battery Power (Disconnect Switch) - Use the key disconnect switch in order to disconnect battery power from the electrical circuits in the machine. Auxiliary Starting (4 and 5)This message is located on the bracket below the start switch key for the jacket water heater. The start switch key is inside the battery compartment access door on the left side of the machine.

ON - Turn the auxiliary switch to this position (4) in order to provide electrical power to the auxiliary circuits in the machine.
Jacket Water Heater - Use jacket water heater (5) when the ambient outside temperature is low in order to increase cold starting capability. No Weld and No Drill (6)This message is located on the vertical support of the ROPS on the right side of the machine, if equipped.
