Hand Held Service Tools
The DMMP control uses the SAE J1587-1708 network to tune and monitor the software setpoints. There are no external adjustments that can be made to the DMMP control without using the SAE network.A hand held service tool cartridge is not currently available to access any of the DMMP control setpoints. A generic SAE network hand held tool can be used to view the SAE parameters that are available from the engine (PID 128) controller. The DMMP control does not respond to all the parameters listed in the SAE standard. The available parameters are: ENGINE RPM, IDLE ENG RPM, RATED ENG RPM, % THROTTLE, FOOT PEDAL %, PTO STATUS, ENGINE LOAD, RATED HORSEPOWER, and MAXIMUM GOVERNOR DROOP. See the Appendix (Hardware Faults) for more details.PC Service Tool
To adjust the DMMP control, connect a PC (IBM-compatible personal computer) to the control using a J1587-1708 to RS-232 converter (Kent-Moore J38351 serial adapter or equivalent) between the control and the computer's RS-232 serial output port (see Figure 1-4).The computer must have DOS version 3.3 or later (or OS/2 version 2.0).Insert the Woodward supplied disk into an appropriate floppy disk drive. At the DOS prompt (DOS emulation if using OS/2), change to the appropriate floppy drive (A: or B:), type PCSVC, then press the <ENTER> key. The default serial port for the PC Service Tool is COM1. Serial port COM2 can be used by adding the command "2" after the PC service call (that is, enter PCSVC 2).The computer monitor will display six "windows" with operating instructions on the bottom half of the screen. The display will appear as shown in the example in Figure 3-1.Woodward Governor Company Service
Figure 3-1. Example of Typical PC Service Tool DisplayAll six service windows are capable of performing identical functions. Both tunable and monitored parameters are arranged in logical groups under labels known as service headers (see Figure 3-2). When a service header is selected, the screen displays blocks under that header. The selected service header displays in the active window (the window surrounded by the heavy line). If you wish to display more than one service header (or different blocks from the same header), use / to step from one window to another. Up to six headers or block entries can be displayed using the six windows. From any active blank window, press to view the service header entries. Pressing the / keys scrolls through list of available service headers. Once the desired header is displayed in the window, press to view the block entries associated with the selected header. Pressing the / keys scrolls through the block entries. Pressing the key once will return the window to the service header entries.
Figure 3-2. PC Service Tool Software FlowchartA block entry under any service header is tunable when it is followed by an asterisk (*). When adjusting a value, the control allows you to change it in small, medium, or large increments. Use the ,
