Personal injury or death may result from failure to adhere to the following procedures.Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove two bolts (3) and position hose assembly (2) out of the way.

Disconnect hose assembly (4) and position out of the way. Disconnect tube assembly (5), and tube assembly (7), and position out of the way.
Disconnect sensor (6) and position out of the way.

Remove all cable ties (8). Disconnect ignition wire assembly (9) and position out of the way. Remove bolt (10) and the clip. Disconnect nozzle heater assembly (11) and position out of the way.
Remove bolt (13) and position wire assembly (12) out of the way. Remove bolts (14). Position tube assembly (15) out of the way, enough to remove the gasket.

Remove six bolts (16). Remove combustion head assembly (17) and the seal.Installation Procedure
Install combustion head assembly (17) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (A) to nuts (16).
Tighten nuts (16) in a crisscross pattern to a torque of 23 3 N m (204 27 lb in). Tighten nuts (16) again in a crisscross pattern to a torque of 28 3 N m (248 27 lb in). Tighten nuts (16) one final time in a crisscross pattern to a torque of 28 3 N m (248 27 lb in).
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of sensor (6). Install sensor (6) and tighten to a torque of 45 5 N m (33 3 lb ft).
