C     4C-6408     Axle Support     1    Note: The installation procedures for the front axle shaft and for the rear axle shafts are identical.Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.
Attach a suitable lifting device to the axle shaft. The weight of the axle shaft is 38 kg (84 lb).
Install the axle shaft to the final drive.

Slide Tooling (C) over the end of the axle shaft. Use Tooling (C) to guide the axle shaft in position in the final drive.

Align sun gear (8) with the planetary gears and slide the sun gear completely on the axle shaft. Remove Tooling (C) .

Use Tooling (B) to install retaining ring (7) .

Install O-ring seal (4) in the groove of the final drive assembly.

Install cover assembly (2), six bolts (1) and the washers. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 105 20 N m (75 15 lb ft).
Install drain plug (3) .
Fill the differential housing with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the capacity of the differential housing. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential and Final Drive Oil - Change" for the correct filling procedure.End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
