Boom Speed Control
1. Push button in center of knob and pull knob up to increase boom down speed. 2. Push button in center of knob and push knob down to decrease boom down speed. 3. Rotate control knob for fine adjustment of boom down speed.
Engage controls gradually to regulate speed at which boom lowers.
Swing Brake
1. It should require a firm pull to snap handle over center. 2. Turn knob clockwise to tighten, counterclockwise to loosen. Brake is properly adjusted when it keeps boom from swinging when applied, and lining is free when released.Track Roller Frame
To Change Track Gauge:
1. Position machine on level ground. Remove 22 bolts from the two carbody legs on one roller frame only.
Damage to carbody guides, on the track roller frame, may result if either track is raised more than 3 inches (76 mm) with the carbody bolts removed.
2. Position boom over opposite roller frame. Force bucket teeth into ground. Apply BOOM DOWN pressure and lift roller frame slightly.3. Use stick IN or OUT force to extend or retract the roller frame.4. Apply Anti-Seize Compound, Caterpillar Part No. 9M3710, or equivalent, to the underside of the heads and the threads of the 22 carbody bolts.5. Install the bolts in both carbody legs on the roller frame that was removed. Moving the machine slightly in left or right turns may be required to allow bolts to be installed.6. Torque bolts, alternating from one leg to the other, until all torque readings stabilize... ...Serial Nos. 95V1 thru 95V464 and 94L1 thru 94L231 (1 inch mounting bolts): 250 50 lb. ft. (340 70 N m)....Serial Nos. 95V465-Up and 94L232-Up (1-1/8 inch mounting bolts): 500 50 lb. ft. (680 70 N m).7. On ALL machines, regardless of serial numbers, turn each bolt an additional 1/6 of a complete circle, after torque has stabilized.8. Repeat steps 1 thru 7 for the opposite roller frame.
