WRENCH A 5P3044 - Caterpillar

1. Install lock pin (1) in the wheel lean bar and the front axle.
Do not remove any pins from the wheel lean bar until the lock pin has been installed.
2. Lift the front of the machine enough to get the weight off the front axle. Install tooling (A) under the axle as shown. 3. Fasten tooling (B) to both wheel lean arms and to the frame.4. Remove the nuts, washers and bolts (3). Remove lock (2) from the groove (slot) in the wheel lean arms at each end of wheel lean bar (4). Remove the bolts and retainers (5).5. Fasten a hoist to the wheel lean bar.6. Remove the pins that hold the wheel lean bar to the wheel lean arm. Do not remove the pins from wheel lean arm (6).7. Remove lock pin (1) from the wheel lean bar and the front axle. Remove wheel lean bar (4). The weights are: 14G, 60kg (132 lbs), 16G, 79kg (174 lbs.).8. Remove the seals and bearings from wheel lean bar (4) with tool (C). The following steps are for installation of the wheel lean bar. 9. Install a new seal in each end of the wheel lean bar with tooling (C). Install the seals with the lips toward the outside and even with the outside surface of the wheel lean bar. 10. Install a new bearing in each end of the wheel lean bar with tooling (D). Install the bearings so they just make contact with the seals.
Tooling (D) must be used when installing the bearings to prevent causing damage.
11. Install another seal in each end of the wheel lean bar with tooling (C). Install the seals with the lips toward the outside and even with the outside surface of the wheel lean bar. 12. Fasten a hoist to the wheel lean bar. Put wheel lean bar (4) in position on the front axle.13. Install wheel lean lock pin (1) in the front axle and the wheel lean bar.14. Put the left wheel lean arm in alignment with the wheel lean bar with tooling. Install the pin that holds the wheel lean bar to the wheel lean arm. Make sure the groove in the pin is in alignment with the opening in the wheel lean arm.15. Install the lock. Install the nut, the washer and bolt (3) that hold lock (2). Do not tighten bolt (3) at this time.16. Install retainer and bolt (5) on the pin. Maintain 0.76 mm (0.030 in.) gap between the retainer and the wheel lean bar. Tighten bolt (3).17. Repeat Steps (14) through (16) to install components (2), (3), and (5) to wheel lean arm (6), on the right side of the machine.18. Lift the front of the machine. Remove tooling (A). Lower the machine to the ground.19. Remove tooling (B). Remove lock pin (1) from the front axle and the wheel lean bar.
