Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed. Clean all of the components with a cloth that is free of loose material (lint).

Use Tool (A) in order to install the inner half of Duo-Cone seal (1) (not shown). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Duo-Cone Seals - Install".

Use Tool (B) in order to install the inner half of Duo-Cone seal (2) (not shown). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Duo-Cone Seals - Install".
Install roller bearing cone (3) on the spindle.

Cool roller bearing cup (4) to a temperature of -40 °C (-40 °F). Install roller bearing cup (4) on the front wheel assembly. Make sure that the roller bearing cup is seated properly in the counterbore of the front wheel.
Use Tool (A) (not shown) in order to install the outer half of Duo-Cone seal (1) . Use Tool (B) (not shown) in order to install the outer half of Duo-Cone seal (2) . Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Duo-Cone Seals - Install".

Cool roller bearing cup (5) to a temperature of -40 °C (-40 °F). Install roller bearing cup (5) on the front wheel assembly. Make sure that the roller bearing cup is seated properly in the counterbore of the front wheel.

Attach Tooling (C) to front wheel assembly (6) . Position a suitable lifting sling on Tooling (C) . Secure the suitable lifting sling to a hoist. Lift front wheel assembly (6) into position on the spindle. The weight of the front wheel assembly is 490 kg (1080 lb).
Install roller bearing cone (8) and retainer (7) without any of the shims.

Refer to the following procedure in order to adjust the preload on the front wheel bearings:
Install four locking bolts (9) , as shown. Tighten locking bolts (9) evenly to a torque of 200 N m (148 lb ft).
Remove Tooling (C) (not shown). Rotate the front wheel assembly by two complete revolutions. Tighten four locking bolts (9) to a torque of 200 N m (148 lb ft).
Loosen four locking bolts (9) . Rotate the front wheel assembly by two revolutions. Tighten four locking bolts (9) to a torque of 110 N m (81 lb ft).
Rotate the front wheel assembly by two revolutions. Tighten four locking bolts (9) to a torque of 110 N m (81 lb ft).
Rotate the front wheel assembly by two revolutions. Tighten four bolts (9) to a torque of 110 N m (81 lb ft).
Use Tool (D) in order to measure the distance to the end of the spindle through the two forcing screw holes in retainer (7) . Find the average of these measurements.
Attach Tooling (C) (not shown) to the front wheel assembly. Position a suitable lifting sling on Tooling (C) . Secure the suitable lifting sling to a hoist. Support the weight of the front wheel housing.
Remove four locking bolts (9) and remove retainer (7) .
