Information:
1. Start the machine and move it forward or to the rear until drain plug (1) is in the position as shown.2. Remove the plug and drain the oil from the final drives. Capacity is 57 U.S. Gal. (216 litre). 3. Remove six nuts from final drive cover (2). Install two 1/2"-13 NC forcing screws. Install tool (A) in final drive cover. Fasten a hoist to tool (A) and remove the cover. Weight of the cover is 85 lb. (39 kg). Remove seal from cover. 4. Install a 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolt (4) in the end of the drive axle (3). Pull the axle out of the final drive until a hoist can be fastened to it. If necessary, move the machine forward or backward a small amount if the axle does not come out of the final drive.5. Remove drive axle (3) from the final drive. Weight of the drive axle is 240 lb. (108 kg). 6. Remove ring (6), gear (5) and spacer (7) from the drive shaft.Install Drive Axles
1. Install spacer (1), gear (2) and ring (3) on the drive shaft.2. Make sure the axles are clean and free of dirt and foreign material. To put the splines on the axle shaft and the splines in the differential in alignment, it can be necessary to install a piece of pipe over the outside end of the axle shaft. Push down on the pipe to lift the inside of the axle shaft. 3. Fasten a hoist to the drive axle (4) and put it in position in the final drive. It is necessary to move the machine a small amount if the gear on the drive axle does not move in alignment with the gears in the final drive carrier.4. Turn notches in shafts (5) to the outside of the final drive carrier as shown. 5. Install a new seal on the final drive cover (6). Fasten tool (A) and a hoist to the cover, then put the final drive cover in position on the final drive carrier. Install the nuts (7) that hold it.6.
