Communications "Gateway" options
If the status pane displays "Disconnected" with a red colored dot, or you want to use a different service cable, select the "Gateway Select" (5) icon that resembles an electronic service meter. A new window with service cable options will appear. From the cable selections, select "Caterpillar CA3" when using the “Communication Adapter 3” cable. Select Sauer-Danfoss CG150 , when using the “Recovery” cable. Then select "set" or "save" in order to continue. The “CA2” cable is not compatible with this machine. P1STC will attempt to establish communication with the selected service cable.Note: "Tier 3" or earlier built machines may require the "Diagnostic Navigator" in order to service the machine. Vibratory Soil Compactors do not require the "Diagnostic Navigator". The "Diagnostic Navigator" can be opened by selecting the straight-line symbol (7). The Circle symbol (8) closes the "Diagnostic Navigator". Alternatively, machines that require the "Diagnostic Navigator", can open "Diagnostic Navigator" by selecting "View>Default Layout" at any time.
Select the ".P1D Help" (9) symbol for the machine serial number to "P1D" diagnostic file Cross Reference Document. Note the machine specific "P1D" diagnostic file for the machine model and serial number prefix being serviced. For example: CS56B (S/N: S56) uses the "SCOM T4fWB.P1D" diagnostic file.

Select the open folder icon (10). A new window should open to the "C:\PLUS+1\CAT" Diagnostic Files folder as shown in Illustration 7. Select and open the "Cat Diagnostics Files" folder. Select and open the diagnostic file noted in the previous step. P1STC will scan the machine ECMs before opening the service tool ECM summary detail. Note: If problems/malfunctions occur during service, you may have selected the wrong P1D file. Close the P1STC program and repeat the connection procedure with the correct P1D file that matches the machine serial number prefix.
