Information:

The proper installation of the lip seal in the upper cap is with the sealing lip facing toward the outside of the cap. The proper installation of the lip seal in the lower cap is with the sealing lip facing toward the inside of the cap.13. Use Tooling (A) and install the lip seals in the upper and lower caps of the upper hitch assembly.14. Lubricate the sealing lip of the seals lightly with 5P-0960 Multipurpose Grease.15. Coat all bores of the upper hitch with 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound. 16. Cool the bearing cups to - 62° 10° C (- 103° 41° F).17. Use three bolts (29) to position and retain lower cap (32) to the upper hitch.18. Use temperature resistant gloves and install lower bearing cup (43) in upper hitch bore. Drive cup down until contact is made with lower cap (32).19. Lubricate the bearing cones with clean oil. Install bearing cones (44) and (45) back to back as shown.20. Use temperature resistant gloves and install upper bearing cup (42) in upper hitch bore. Drive cup down until light contact pressure is on the bearing cones. 21. Install 1.85 mm (.073 in) of shim pack (31) under upper cap (30). Secure upper cap (30) with three bolts (29) 120 degrees apart. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 300 40 N m (220 29 lb ft). 22. Attach Tooling (D) to the upper hitch bearing cones. Use a torque wrench and Tooling (D) to slowly rotate the bearing cones to check the amount of rolling torque. Add or remove shims as required to obtain a rolling torque of not less than 14.7 N m (130 lb in) or greater than 32.8 N m (290 lb in). Adding shims will decrease the rolling torque. Removing shims will increase the rolling torque.23. When the correct rolling torque is obtained remove Tooling (D) and install the remaining nine bolts (29). Tighten all twelve bolts to a torque of 300 40 N m (175 29 lb ft). 24. Install spacer (28) in the lower cap of the upper hitch. The following steps are for the connection of the front frame assembly to the rear frame assembly. 25. Raise the rear portion of the front frame assembly with a hoist and suitable lifting chains high enough to clear the cribbing. Make sure spacer (28) of the upper front hitch clears the upper rear hitch while pushing the machine together. 26. Slowly push the front frame assembly with a lift truck toward the rear frame assembly. Move the hoist and the cribbing with the front frame until the front and rear hitches are in alignment. 27. Use Tooling (B) to make minor adjustments to align the upper and lower hitches. Tooling (B) can be operated independently to assist in aligning the upper and lower pin bores from side to side as well as front to rear. 28. Install Tooling (F) in the threaded holes of the rear
