Sudden movement or accidental starting of the machine can cause personal injury or death to persons on or near the machine.To prevent personal injury or death, perform the following:Park the machine on a smooth, level surface.Lower the work tool to the ground and engage the parking brake.Stop the engine and remove the key.Block the wheels and install the steering frame lock.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Specifications
The recommended level of cleanliness for the hydraulic system is ISO Code 18/15. See Table 1 for the maximum allowable particle count.

Customers provide oil samples, coolant samples, and other vehicle information. The dealer uses the data to provide the customer with recommendations for management of the equipment. SOS Services can help detect a potential problem before a failure and help determine the cause. Your Cat dealer may administer an Extended Oil Drain program with a Customer Support Agreement (CSA) based on routine Scheduled Oil Sampling (SOS) results and the use of genuine Cat parts, fluids, and Scheduled Maintenance Services.Required Tools

Start the engine and run the engine at high idle. Allow the oil temperature to reach the normal operating temperature.
Actuate all cylinders through a minimum of ten full cycles.
Lower the work tools to the ground.
Stop the engine.Test Procedure
Use the following procedure to sample the oil in the hydraulic system.
