Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Loosen hose clamp (1) and remove hose (3) from crankcase breather (2) .
Loosen hose clamp (6) and remove hose (5) from crankcase breather (2) .
Remove two bolts (4) that hold crankcase breather (2) in position.
Remove crankcase breather (2) from the engine.
Unscrew the two halves of crankcase breather (2) .
Remove the valve assembly from crankcase breather (2) .Installation Procedure

Install a new valve assembly into crankcase breather (2) .
Screw the two halves of crankcase breather (2) together.
Put crankcase breather (2) in position on the engine.
Install two bolts (4) that hold crankcase breather (2) in position.
Install hose (5) onto crankcase breather (2) and tighten hose clamp (6) .
Install hose (3) onto crankcase breather (2) and tighten hose clamp (1) .
