Truck Engine: 3176B (S/N: 3LZ)Introduction
This publication details the requirements for the installation of an 0R-9120 Remanufactured 3176B Truck Engine into a 3176 Chassis. The installation of a Remanufactured 3176B Truck Engine will require the following components:
Wiring Harness Adapter (refer to Table 1)
9G-3695 Sealing Plugs
Troubleshooting Guide, SENR5582, "3176B, C-10, C-12, and 3406E Diesel Truck Engine Electronic Troubleshooting Guide"
Installation Guide, SENR5502, "3176 Rear Power Take-Off (RPTO)" The installation of a Remanufactured 3176B Truck Engine may require the following additional components:
Warning lamp for the Engine Monitoring Package
Coolant level sensor
Battery Power for the Event Recorder
Compression brake
Control switches for the compression brake
Modifications to the cooling system
Modifications to the air inlet system
Modifications to the exhaust system
Modifications to the drive trainNote: The cooling system, the air inlet system, the exhaust system, and the drive train may require changes. This publication does not detail these changes due to the variety of installations of the OEM. Contact the OEM for the required modifications.Wiring Harness Adapter

100-7765     Required for the replacement of (S/N: 7LG) Engines    A Wiring Harness Adapter is required for the replacement of a 3176 Truck Engine with a Remanufactured 3176B Truck Engine. The Wiring Harness Adapter adapts the OEM Vehicle Wiring Harness to the ECM 40-pin OEM connector. All wires that are required are included in the Wiring Harness Adapter. All wires that are optional are also included in the Wiring Harness Adapter. A data link connection pin for the ECAP is designed into the Wiring Harness Adapter.Note: The ground wire for the wiring harness must be installed on the ground stud for the cylinder head.Refer to Illustration 1 for the schematic of the Wiring Harness Adapter. Refer to Table 1 for the part numbers of the Wiring Harness Adapter.Engine Monitoring Package

Wiring schematic of warning lamp for Engine Monitoring PackageThe Engine Monitoring Package is optional. A warning lamp must be installed in the truck cab for the Engine Monitoring Package.Note: If you are replacing a 7LG07500-UP engine, warning lamps for the Engine Monitoring Package may already be installed.Note: The "" lamp and the "CHECK ENGINE" lamp are not the same lamp.The engine monitoring package can be programmed to OFF, , DERATE or SHUTDOWN through a programmable parameter from the customer. Refer to the Electronic Troubleshooting Manual, SENR5582, "3406E/3176B Diesel Truck Engine" for additional information on programming customer parameters.Refer to Illustration 2 for the wiring schematic of the warning lamp for the Engine Monitoring Package.Coolant Level Sensor
