PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR REWORKING THE BRAKE DISC
MODELS INVOLVED - CERTAIN 907H2 COMPACT WHEEL LOADERS
Dear Cat Product Owner:
The brake disc needs to be replaced on the products listed below. The existing brake disc splines can fail causing loss of power transfer to the front axle. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
If you are no longer the owner of this product(s), please contact your local Cat dealer so that our records can be updated. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 02Jul2014 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
Before beginning any repairs park the machine in a safe working area on level ground.
Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, for your machine, for additional safety requirements before before making any repairs.
Refer to KENR5211, Disassembly and Assembly, for both high speed and low speed axles, in order to complete this Rework Procedure.
1. Remove the brake caliper assembly.
2. Remove the drive shaft.
3. Loosen the front axle mounting bolts to allow the axle to be lowered so the brake disc will have clearance to slide off the pinion shaft. Refer to Image1.1.1.
4. Remove the 292-5387 Brake Disc and 211-1316 Mounting Bracket. The parts will not be reused, retain the bracket positioning dowel for further re-use.
5. Clean the splines on the pinion shaft and clean the axle housing where the old brake housing mounted.
Refer to Image1.2.1 and 1.2.2 for parts identification of the new 445-9245 Brake Disc (1) and mounting kit.

6. Install the new brake mounting bracket (4) in the same orientation as the old mounting bracket and tighten the bolts (5) to a specified torque of 50 N.m.
7. Assemble components (2),(7), and (8) and the 2mm thickness (suggested starting point) to identify the correct shim (3) in the kit in order to limit the axial free play of the new brake disc to 0.25mm. DO NOT install the seal (6) at this time.
8. Disassemble the items in Step 7 above and reassemble with the correct shim thickness. Verify that the free play does not exceed 0.25mm.
9. Disassemble the items once again.
- Install seal (6) into brake bracket (4). Apply Loctite 510 to the axle housing where new brake bracket (4) will be mounted.
- Reassemble the original positioning dowel pin into bracket (4) with spacer (2) and correct shims (3). Tighten bolts (5) to a specified torque of 50 N.m.
